I love giving gifts, especially hand-made ones. A gift just feels so much more special when you’ve put some time and effort into it. I love being able to create unique and special gifts like blankets, sweaters, toys, placemats, or rugs through the art of crochet. Yarn is my paint and a hook my paintbrush.
Unfortunately, not all of us have the time or know-how to create such gifts. We often turn to things like flowers or chocolates when deciding on a gift for birthdays or anniversaries.
With Mother’s Day coming up, I have the perfect gift idea for that special woman in your life:
A yarn bouquet!
This is the perfect gift for those of you that find the prospect of a hand-made gift a little daunting. Especially if it will be gifted to someone who likes to knit or crochet!
You can customise the Mother’s Day yarn bouquet with her favourite colours and can even include a pattern for a pretty shawl or throw. Believe me, a happy hooker can never have enough yarn or patterns!
If the recipient is anything like me, they will be very happy to add the yarn to their stash or start a new project. Each time they work on it, they will think of you fondly and create an everlasting gift.
The bouquet can be as big or small as you’d like. It will be a very special gift regardless of the number of yarn balls it contains. It’s the thought that counts!
I created these bouquets using dried fynbos and flowers, along with some knitting needles that I bought from Ons Winkel in Pretoria. With some added twine, brown paper and cellophane to round it all off, I quite like the final result.
I will be taking orders for Mother’s Day, so get in touch to order a bouquet today.
